Education Department Awards Grants to Improve Employment Opportunities for Individuals with Disabilities

The U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services has announced more than $12.6 million in grants to help people with disabilities become self-sufficient, live independently and participate fully in their communities. Among the programs that will receive funding are the American Indian Vocational Rehabilitation Services program and the Career Pathways for Individuals with Disabilities projects, which address the problems of employers’ being able to find employees with necessary skills and people with disabilities being unable to find employment.
