The provisions in questions require laid-off workers to complete an online skills test before being approved for benefits and to file unemployment claims on the Internet only.
Federal officials said the state must revise its procedures or face "appropriate enforcement actions," which could include referring the case to the U.S. attorney general or cutting federal aid to the state program, according to the Sentinel.
The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity said it is willing to work with the Labor Department and that some changes have already been made. The Florida department added that the findings are only preliminary and procedures had been “mischaracterized,” the Sentinel reports.
