As more job postings and job training programs move online, it is crucial that these resources remain accessible to everyone. That's why in July the department teamed up with the Federal Communications Commission, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and the Connect2Compete coalition to connect underserved communities to online job resources.
On Monday, that effort gained another partner with the announcement of Comcast's Internet Essentials program that will provide low-cost internet service, as well as discounted computer hardware, to families who are eligible for free or reduced priced school lunches through the National School Lunch Program. Comcast will also provide information about digital literacy services to jobseekers through American Job Centers in the 39 states where Comcast offers service.
